Sean Hocking founder and owner of Metal Postcard Records and the Metal Postcard Soundsystem has been been playing records to friends since the age of 13. Inspired by John Peel of Radio 1 (UK) he spent his teenage years playing parties, dances and village halls supporting friends bands and anybody else who’d have him . In the late 80’s and early 90’s he got involved in the free party scene at the birth of rave in Sydney spending most weekends in a old house, warehouse or carpark introducing others to the delights of Italian House, disco and early electro. As the 90’s wore on and everybody became a dj he took a step back until launching the underground 12 apostles night at Sydney’s famous Hollywood Hotel in 2000. Hocking now runs Metal Postcard Records a proudly genre free bedroom record label and also the record label / art project 12 Apostles with London partner Ben Davies. Now resident in Hong Kong , Hocking dj’s when he can around town and presents the newly launched Time Out Hong Kong podcast every fortnight.
